SEIU Local 615
October 22, 2009
The reelection campaign of Cambridge City Councilor and Vice Mayor Sam Seidel gained more momentum today with the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 615.
“In his first term at Cambridge City Council, Vice Mayor Sam Seidel has been a friend to the working families of Cambridge,” said Rocio Saenz, president of Local 615. “He has met with members of our union to discuss their concerns with Harvard and MIT’s response to the economic crisis and has supported several key council resolutions urging the universities to refrain from layoffs and hours cuts. We proudly support Sam Seidel in his re-election campaign.”
In his first term on the Council, Seidel proved to be a strong voice for Cambridge’s working families, helping to create affordable housing options and helping tenants who struggle with high rents.
“I’m proud to have the support of Local 615,” Seidel said. “More than anyone else, working people have felt the squeeze of the economy. On the City Council, I will continue fighting for the working families who are the backbone of Cambridge.”
The City Council election will occur on Nov. 3.
