The Cambridge Ward 6 Democratic Committee has announced its endorsements in the 2009 Cambridge Municipal Elections.

City Council: Henrietta Davis, Craig Kelley, Sam Seidel, Denise Simmons, Minka van Beuzekom, and Larry Ward

School Committee: Richard Harding, Marc McGovern, Patty Nolan, Nancy Tauber, and Alice Turkel

The Cambridge Ward 6 Democratic Committee, which represents the Democratic Party in mid-Cambridge east of Harvard Yard, regularly issues endorsements in both state and municipal elections.

“The making of endorsements in public elections has always been one of the important historical functions for all local political committees,” said Ward 6 Chair Lesley Rebecca Phillips. “In Massachusetts, this function is both permitted and encouraged for local Democratic committees by the Massachusetts Democratic Party Charter, which expressly provides that all local committees –ward, town, and city — may endorse enrolled Democrats who are candidates in party primaries, non-partisan preliminary elections, and both partisan and non-partisan general elections.”
